Jurassic World 3 Is Already In The Works
If there's one thing that never really gets old, it's dinosaurs. Our prehistoric predecessors never fail to fascinate and technology today can bring them to life on the big screen better than ever before. Now, just a few months away from the release of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, we have confirmation that our cinematic futures will continue to be dino-filled. Indeed, Jurassic World 3 is already in the works and Universal Pictures plans to continue the three-year release cycle, setting a June 11, 2021 release date for the third chapter in this sequel trilogy.
In addition to the confirmation of Jurassic World 3 and a release date, we also know who will script the film. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Colin Trevorrow will write the screenplay along with franchise newcomer Emily Carmichael. Colin Trevorrow directed 2015's reboot of the franchise Jurassic World, which grossed $1.67 billion worldwide, and he was a writer and executive producer on this June's sequel. While Emily Carmichael is new to the Jurassic World franchise, she is has experience with writing larger-than-life creatures for a big budget blockbuster, having worked on the script for Pacific Rim: Uprising. Emily Carmichael also rewrote the script for Disney's The Black Hole.
Given the success of the first Jurassic World, it seemed likely the franchise would produce multiple sequels, but it is still good to know that we will be seeing this story out to its conclusion. Announcing this trilogy-capper months before Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom's release indicates that Universal is confident in the film and bringing back Colin Trevorrow to write again seemingly indicates the studio is happy with the direction of the series. Fallen Kingdom looks like it will be playing with some interesting story elements, tackling animal rights and the potential militarization of the dinosaurs, so it will be interesting to see if these elements carry through into the third film.
Plot details for Jurassic World 3 are being kept under wraps at the moment and unsurprisingly so considering the second film hasn't even come out yet. Although I suppose this announcement does spoil the fact that the dinosaurs don't go completely extinct in Fallen Kingdom. Colin Trevorrow has previously spoken about his vision for the franchise, saying he already has a story mapped out with a beginning, middle and end. Hopefully the overarching story for this franchise that Colin Trevorrow conceived with writing partner Derek Connolly will form a satisfying and cohesive trilogy when it's all said and done. Also, confirmation of Jurassic World 3 gives this franchise another chance to bring back Ellie Sattler and perhaps reunite the big three along with Alan Grant and Ian Malcolm from the original Jurassic Park. Just sayin.'
Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom is directed by J.A. Bayona and should continue to prove the universal and timeless appeal of dinosaurs when it hits theaters on June 22nd.

Unless I'm mistaken, Suicide Squad is meant to be a covert, hit squad-type group of people set to take out terrorists and people like that. For me, a film like this would need to be somewhat gritty and serious for it to truly work. Knowing what James Gunn can do, I think he can be able to do it, whilst still making the film his own :-)
